Welcome to the Wensum Decorative and Fine Arts Society (DFAS) web site, which aims to provide a forum and educational opportunities for the exploration of mutual interests in the arts through a dynamic programme in a friendly setting. Annual subscription to the Society is £29, which covers the costs of lectures and a quarterly NADFAS Review magazine.
Lectures are held on the third Tuesday of the month from September to June at the Maddermarket Theatre, Norwich. Additionally, we have Days of Special Interest, plus organised visits to art galleries, stately homes, museums, churches and gardens, and we try to tie these in with any special exhibitions or anniversary celebrations. Every December, we also enjoy a musically-themed coffee morning and lecture at the John Innes Institute, (including mulled wine and mince pies), which is open to all by advance ticket purchase.
The Society also supports the Young Arts programme by sponsoring young students of the decorative arts. As part of this, we hope to engage ‘The Garage’ dance and theatre school to run a special day on theatrical make-up.
